City Church, Chelmsford
Conversion of a locally listed warehouse building in Chelmsford for use as a place of worship.
An existing and locally listed warehouse building in Chelmsford is being converted for use as a place of worship where there will be regular services, rehearsals and other community activity employing amplified music and speech.
The building is surrounded, overlooked, and in close proximity to, a number of dwellings; and special attenuation to sound isolation of the external fabric was required at feasibility, planning, detailed design and construction stages to address potential issues of noise disturbance.
What our clients say about us
We have worked very successfully with Suono on two recent church building projects, Holy Trinity Church in Hazlemere and City Church Chelmsford, two very different buildings but both requiring detailed acoustic advice.
For each project, Suono analysed the style of worship and advised on the measures to be taken to ensure that the worship spaces performed well acoustically.
City Church Chelmsford purchased a locally listed Victorian building, that was originally a canal-side warehouse, but is now located within a large residential development. Therefore, in addition to the performance of the internal acoustics, Suono analysed the current building fabric and advised on the additional detailed measures required to ensure that the residents were not disturbed by noise emanating from the church building.
We have found Suono to be proactive, knowledgeable and practical in terms of their advice and guidance and would be very happy to recommend their appointment on future projects.
