Suono supported CALA Homes in the preparation of noise-related matters regarding a full planning application for the provision of 151 residential dwellings, commercial floorspace and public open space at a site to the north of Cooksbridge, Lewes.

Noise contours based on measured noise survey data were produced in order to quantify the impact of noise from a busy A-Road which bisected the site in addition to an adjacent elevated railway line. In co-ordination with the design team, a range of good acoustic design principles were considered to ensure inherent noise mitigation was provided as part of the development design in order to minimise the need for enhanced façade mitigation measures. Appraisals of noise ingress into dwellings with both windows closed and during the night time overheating condition were carried out, with enhanced glazing and ventilation measures specified on a plot-per-plot basis where necessary.
